Who Do You Think You Are

Last night I caught up on the "Who Do You Think You Are" series.  I love hearing stories about other people's search to find their heritage.  When they find something, I am always excited as if it was my own ancestor.  The show always inspires me to get back to tracing my ancestors.  But then reality hits in.  I don't have professional genealogists and historians helping me with my search. The show doesn't provide an accurate view of the time involved to find all of these hidden gems.  It's like to crime shows that show DNA results in minutes or a couple of hours.
Another frustration is that while watching the show, I might see a document or map or some piece of information that might be helpful in my own research but there is no sourcing on the website to help me find a copy of the information.  Today it is a map of the Virginia Territory with the lines showing the Indian Lands.  It would be fantastic to be able to go to the WDYTYA website, click on the show, and be offerred an opportunity to look at the sources involved in that show.
May be someday.... but for now as before I am on my own.
